PACT was set up by a group of parents in Suffolk who wanted to make a difference. They felt there was a need for parents and carers in the area who had children with poor mental health. As PACT say ‘Discovering that your child has a mental health issue can be a very frightening and uncertain time…. You have to become experts in things you’ve never thought about and you quickly discover you feel very isolated. We support each other and help one another to grow in knowledge and resilience.’

PACT runs monthly coffee mornings across various locations in Suffolk including Stowmarket, Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds. The focus of these coffee mornings is to offer positive support and to empower and enable parents and carers. PACT also run their own Parent & Carer Support Line that offers free, confidential support and signposting to people whose children are struggling with their mental health. Parents and carers who have lived experience of supporting children and young people with mental health issues run the PACT Support Line. The number is 07856 038799 and they respond very quickly to messages.

PACT is a great team; we had already been in contact with them before we met at the SPCN conference on 11th February and they were so welcoming to us. We look forward to working with them more closely in the future.
