Do you think you could be a carer?

If you are caring for a family member or friend and would like some information, advice or support then we would welcome a referral from you.

It could be that you are in need of the following:

  • Advice on how to navigate the local health and social care systems
  • Information and signposting to more specific services, e.g. support groups
  • Supported referrals to other organisations, e.g. Suffolk County Council, St. Nicholas Hospice
  • Direct referral to our in-house counselling service
  • A listening ear and emotional support
  • Our trained Carer Advisers can provide all of the above and more; this list is by no means exhaustive!

By filling in our online form below and making a self-referral it can give you the opportunity to talk through your caring role with one of our Carer Advisers and make sure that you are receiving all the support you need.

Our Advice Line is open seven days a week; 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 10am-2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. If there is a particular day/time that suits you please feel free to note this on the referral form and we will do our best to accommodate this.

One of our Carer Advisers will make contact within five working days of receiving your referral.

Professional Referrals

We welcome referrals from any professional who feels a carer they know would benefit from our service. Some of the organisations who refer to us include St Nicholas Hospice Care, Steel Bones, NSFT Autism Diagnostic Service and PACT (Parents and Carers of Children and Young People with Mental Health).

All we ask is that permission has been given from the carer in question before a referral is made to us.

Our fully trained Carer Advisers can offer carers information, advice and guidance including the following:

  • Advice on how to navigate the local health and social care systems
  • Information and signposting to more specific services, e.g. support groups
  • Supported referrals to other organisations, e.g. Suffolk County Council, St. Nicholas Hospice
  • Direct referral to our in-house counselling service

Above all our Carer Advisers can offer emotional support and a non-judgemental listening ear. We aim to enable and empower carers and give them the opportunity to explore the various aspects of their caring role and ensure they are getting all the support they need. Our Carer Advisers  are happy to feedback to referrers where requested.

A Carer Adviser will make contact with the carer within five working days of receiving a referral.
